WHAT IS A COMMISSION?
A piece of jewellery, designed and handcrafted specially for you.
These can be 'Bespoke' designs created to your own requirements or one of my existing designs that can be customised for you.
COMMISSIONING PROCESS - HOW DOES IT WORK?
I work in partnership with you to understand your requirements. Please me with your initial enquiry by email or telephone. I can then create pieces based on your ideas from imagery or rough sketches you provide. It doesn't matter how basic they are. All information will help me gain a better understanding of your requirements. If possible, it is helpful to give me an indication of your budget as this will determine the intricacy of the design and the materials I can work with. From this, I develop designs from our correspondence, which can then be discussed and refined to your requirements. As a final touch, presentation drawings are also available on completion of commission (upon request).
I am able to create wedding rings to your own requirements, for further information, please see the and pages.
All my jewellery is made by hand, so my existing designs can be customised to your own requirements or be commissioned in a specific precious metal or combination of metals such as 9ct, 18ct - Yellow, White or Red Gold.
How long will my commission take to create?
Please bear in mind that each piece is handmade so, on average, commissions can take between 4 to 12 weeks to complete. This timescale is dependant on the particulars of the design and the time involved in creating sketches, making the piece, hallmarking and polishing. Each commission is different, so I am happy to advise you of a timescale or if I can meet your special date.
What if my commission is required urgently or as a gift?
I do my best to undertake urgent orders. Unfortunately these cannot always be accommodated. In these cases, an alternative may be to gift wrap the presentation designs. The remainder of the commissioning process can then be completed.
How much will it cost?
This is very much dependant on design, size and type of precious metal to be used. Often I create several designs which may vary in price. Before I start designing, it can also be helpful to know your rough budget, as this will determine intricacy of the design and the materials I can work with. If you define a budget I can design within this amount in mind. Once the design has been agreed a deposit of 50% of the total cost is required to proceed. The balance is required prior to dispatch or on collection.
